Kensaku Oshiro

Kensaku Oshiro is a Japanese designer and architect celebrated for his minimalist approach and his ability to blend traditional elements of Japanese culture with a contemporary aesthetic. After graduating from the Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan in 1999, Oshiro honed his craft at renowned design studios in Milan and London before establishing his own studio in Milan in 2015. His portfolio ranges from product design – collaborating with prestigious brands such as B&B Italia, Poltrona Frau, Boffi, Gan and De Padova – to architectural projects that embody his serene and timeless style.

Nuer redefines the function of wall cladding, moving beyond the traditional concept of tiles as mere decorative elements to extend this idea across the entire surface.

The mosaic consists of a repeated module with three angled faces, each in a different colour, designed to create captivating tonal variations that shift depending on the viewpoint, angle, and distance from which they are observed. The tile format allows for the seamless fusion of large surfaces or the creation of dynamic, innovative colour compositions.
